Investigation into Man's Death at 7333 Roswell

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found after a fire was extinguished at 7333 Roswell about 2 a.m. Friday (February 2).

The identity of the victim, in his 50s, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Miller and Detective C. Elder reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a call for assistance from HFD emergency personnel regarding a house fire at the above address.  Officers arrived and were told by HFD personnel that a body was discovered inside the residence.  A female witness told officers the man in the house was her husband and he had been unable to get out in time.  The female stated a candle was lit at the end of their bed when they went to sleep and the victim woke up to the fire.  He then alerted the family to get out of the house, but was unable to do so himself.

Investigators believe no foul play was involved in this incident.
