Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Friday's shooting of a juvenile male at 7000 Lockwood.

Investigation into Shooting at 7000 Lockwood

Houston police are investigating the shooting of a juvenile male at 7000 Lockwood about 4:35 p.m. last Friday (Feb. 2).

The victim, 16, suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Homicide Division Detective T. Fay reported:

Patrol officers were flagged down by a group of juveniles and informed one of them had been shot.  Paramedics were called and transported the victim to the hospital.

The group told officers the unknown male suspect was wearing all black clothing and was last seen running eastbound along train tracks to a residential area.  Officers set up a perimeter and searched for the possible suspect, who was not located.

Investigation into Stabbing at 9611 Grant Road

Houston police are investigating the stabbing of a male at 9611 Grant Road about 9:45 p.m. last Friday (Feb. 2).

The male, Zachary Lopez, 22, sustained a wound to the stomach and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers S. Ragsdale and R. Naughton reported:

Mr. Lopez was stabbed during an altercation with another male, 20, at an apartment at the above address.  Witnesses stated that Lopez was the aggressor in the altercation when he started to choke the other male, who began to lose consciousness.  The witnesses said the male then acted in self-defense by stabbing Lopez one time.

Investigation into Woman Found Deceased at 8000 West Tidwell

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a woman found at 8000 West Tidwell about 5:10 p.m. last Friday (Feb. 2).

The victim, Danielle Chaney, 20, of the above address, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Burrow and Officer M. Barrow reported:

Ms. Chaney was found by her boyfriend lying on her bed inside her apartment at the above address.  She had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.  The boyfriend stated he brought Chaney outside to render aid before paramedics arrived and transported her to the hospital.

No charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Man Found Deceased at 4514 Rockwood

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found at 4514 Rockwood about 11:15 a.m. last Friday (Feb. 2).

The victim is identified as Mark Alan Moore, 54.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Detective B. Evans reported:

Mr. Moore's landlord drove to the residence at the above address to check on his tenant (Moore), who had not been heard from for several weeks.  The landlord discovered Moore deceased on the back porch. 

Detectives have reason to suspect foul play due to evidence and circumstances learned thus far.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1000 Leeland

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 1000 Leeland about 12:15 p.m. last Friday (Feb. 2).

The identity of the male victim, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer M. Hill reported:

The victim, a pedestrian, was crossing the street - not at a crosswalk - at the above address when he was struck by a gold Chrysler Town and Country minivan.  Paramedics transported the victim to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver was questioned by officers and then released.
