Fort Bend County
Missouri City City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, February 06, 2018

Missouri City City Council on Monday voted unanimously to suspend the February 9 effective date of the SiEnergy, LP statement of intent to increase rates within incorporated areas of central and south Texas.

The effective date is being suspended to allow time for the city to study the request and establish reasonable rates. The motion also authorizes participation in the Gulf Coast Coalition of Cities that reasonable rate expenses shall be reimbursed by SiEnergy, LP.

SiEnergy is requesting a 22 percent increase, including gas costs, for its gas utility rates. The proposed increase would result in residential rates growing from $15 to $19.50 and commercial customer rates growing from $30 to $45.

The city council voted to approve, on first reading, a request to amend the rules and regulations of Planned Development District No. 11 to allow the location of an adult daycare center at a shopping center in the 6000 block of Highway 6.

The city council voted to approve, on first reading, creation of Reinvestment Zone No. 17 for tax abatement purposes. The zone will encompass an approximately 29 acre tract of land south of Pine Meadow Drive, east of Echo Creek Drive and west of South Cravens Road.

The city council voted to approve, on first reading, creation of Reinvestment Zone No. 18 for tax abatement purposes. The zone will encompass approximately 16 acres north of Willow Oak Drive, south of Buffalo Run, west of Fairway Pines Drive and east of Willow Wisp Drive.

The city council voted to approve a parkland dedication for the Hagerson Road tract.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize award of a contract to Arthur J. Gallagher Benefits Services, Inc. for the provision of a salary and benefits market compensation study.

All action items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Council Member Jerry Wyatt absent. Agenda
