Off Duty Officer Shoots Dog To Stop Attack

At approximately 6:45 a.m. on February 6, 2018, in the 800 block of Center Pointe Dr., a dog being walked by it’s owner was attacked by an unrestrained pit bull. An off duty officer from an outside agency was driving to work when he heard the commotion caused by the attack. The officer drove to the scene where he shot the pit bull twice, ending the attack. The pit bull was later euthanized at the scene by Animal Control Officers. The pit bull’s owner, who lives in Center Pointe Subdivision where the attack occurred, will be cited for “Animal At Large”. The dog owner was uninjured while the severity of her dog’s injuries is unknown. The incident is being investigated by League City Animal Control.
