Galveston Police The City of Galveston swore in its 59th Chief of Police, Vernon Hale, in a ceremony held at the Moody Gardens Hotel on Friday.  Hale is only the 3rd Chief  hired from outside of the agency.

“We hired Chief Hale because of his emphasis on community involvement and his reputation for being fair, but firm,” said City Manager Brian Maxwell. “His first month here has shown it his first priority and his reputation holds true. That gives us, as City leaders and residents of the Island, a lot of hope for what the future holds for GPD.”
