Jefferson County
Port Arthur City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Port Arthur City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to proceed with the disannexation of property as requested by Sempra Energy.

Sempra owns subsidiary Port Arthur LNG, and has properties partially within the city limits, with other properties are within the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The company requested to disannex property within the city limits.

The city will hold two public hearings to receive comments regarding the proposed disannexation. The final ordinance to disannex the property will be considered on April 27.

The city council voted to award a $100,000 contract to Hampshire Roofing Co., LLC for historic rehabilitation of Rose Hill Manor.

Work includes the removal, repair and re-installation of windows, renovation work on the balcony gutter and new gutters and downspouts.

The city council voted to approve an interlocal agreement with Jefferson County for assisting with the clean-up process as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

The city council voted unanimously to designate the city manager, the director of human resources, the city attorney, the director of finance and the safety and risk management coordinator to represent the city in collective bargaining negotiations with the Port Arthur Police Association.

All action items were approved by unanimous vote, however, the council took no actions resulting from items discussed in executive session. All members were present. Agenda
