Beaumont ISD Looks to the Future

On February 15 the Board of Managers approved the name, mascot and colors for the soon to be merged Central and Ozen campuses. The Beaumont United High School, maroon and gold Timberwolves will combine for the 2018-19 semester under the leadership of Mr. Ron Jackson who was also named principal at the meeting. Prior to the vote naming the new campus, Superintendent Dr. John Frossard, laid out a restructuring plan for the new campus which detailed leadership positions, introduced a 9th grade academy and focused on existing and future magnet program options. In her presentation to the Board, Associate Superintendent for Secondary Administration Dr. Shannon Allen explained the process that students, community members and administrative staff went through to receive input and narrow down options for the student vote. Allen then presented the results of the vote which were subsequently approved by the Board.

In a separate action, the Board also approved a change to current district policy allowing dual zones for students. Moving forward the district will no longer allow dual zones for high school students, but has made the provision that all students currently “dual zoned” will be grandfathered, allowing them to stay at their current campus through graduation.
