This Week on Stage

Performances and concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast area include “Memphis” in Houston and “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” in Nassau Bay.

Theatre Under the Stars will present “Memphis”, opening on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center in Houston

Additional performances are on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The show runs through March 4.

Clear Creek Community Theatre in Nassau Bay will open its production of Neil Simon's “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” on Friday at 8 p.m.

Additional performances are on Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through March 11.

The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston will present Yamato – The Drummers of Japan on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Imagine two-thousand-years of Samurai, Shinto meditation, and sake surging through the muscles and motion of an energetic troupe of young drummers,” said a news release. “Since their beginnings in 1993, the electrifying Yamato Drummers of Japan have learned, lived, and perfected their art of performing together on beautiful Nara Prefecture in Japan, said to be the birthplace of Japanese culture.” News Release

Beaumont Community Players will kick off its production of “The Marvelous Wonderettes” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Betty Greenberg Center.

An additional production on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The production runs through March 10.

Bay Area Harbour Playhouse in Dickinson ends its production of “Hotbed Hotel” this week, with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through February 25.

Main Street Theater in Houston continues with its production of “Men on Boats” this week.

Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. And on Sunday at 3 p.m. The show runs through March 11.

The Alley Theater in Houston continues with “Lover, Beloved: An Evening with Carson McCullers” this week. Performances are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. the show runs through March 11.

Upcoming performances include “Of Mice and Men”, opening April 5 at the College of the Mainland Community Theatre, and “Hair”, opening March 9 at Island ETC East-End Theatre Company in Galveston.
