Police Investigate Possible Murder-Suicide on Fairway Dr

On Monday afternoon, February 19th, at approximately 1:48 pm, the Galveston Police Department received a call of a possible suicide in the 6700 block of Fairway Dr.  Upon arrival, officers located two subjects at the residence, a 67-year-old male lying in the backyard and a 94-year-old female located inside the residence; both with apparent gunshot wounds.  Galveston EMS quickly responded and after an initial assessment, both subjects were declared deceased

Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division as well as the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to talk to any possible witnesses and to process the scene for any forensic evidence.  During the initial search of the residence, officers located a shotgun lying next to the male’s body and witnesses state they heard what could have been gunshots just before police arrived at the house.

This investigation is believed to be a murder-suicide; however, more investigation will be needed to determine possible motives.  The Galveston Police Department is not actively searching for any other known suspects at this time.  The names of the deceased subjects are not being released until next-of-kin can be notified.
