Pasadena City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, award of a $4,546,500 contract to T & C Construction, LTD for the Crenshaw Water Plant Expansion Phase II Project.

The cost of the project will be paid through the 2008 Water & Sewer Revenue Bond Fund Balance and the 2017 Certificate of Obligation Fund Balance accounts.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution supporting the application of NH Fairmont LP (Blazer/Nantucket Housing, LLC) to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs for 2018 competitive 9 percent Housing Tax Credits for the development of the Fairmont Senior Apartments.

Council Member Sammy Casados stated that the project would be good for the city, but that he would be monitoring the area due to flooding concerns.

“We're going to be building up in a certain area there off of Fairmont between Red Bluff and Center Street,” Casados said. “We have some issues there, that what I saw during Harvey as far as with flooding and things of that nature.” Listen (2:09)

He noted that a retention pond was to be built at the city's convention center, but that the project has not been built yet.

Council Member Don Harrison also spoke on the flooding issue, and discussed the matter of the retention pond.

The city council voted unanimously to approve progress payments on several contracts for work underway in the city, including:

  • $54,644 to D & W Contractors, Inc. for the Thomas Street Reconstruction Project
  • $18,189 to D & W Contractors for the 2018 Annual Paving & Drainage Improvements Project
  • $13,987 to GW Phillips Concrete Construction, Inc. for the Bearle Street Reconstruction Project
  • $10,378 to IKLO Construction for the Pet Adoption Center Project
  • $81,897 to Peltier Brothers Construction, LTD for the Waste Water Treatment Plant Consolidation Project

The city council voted unanimously to approve payment of miscellaneous claims and invoices, with Council Member Cary Bass abstaining on any items related to Bass & Meineke.

The city council voted unanimously to approve personnel changes, with the exception of resignation Jose Ramos, which was deferred.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Jon Matthews to the Civil Service Commission.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on final reading, to change the contractor name for the 2018 Citywide Waterline Replacement Project to R&A Road Boring LLC.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, termination of a lease agreement with Fairmont Central, LLC for 4106 and 4108 Fairmont Parkway.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Thomas Schoenbein was absent. Agenda
