This Week on Stage

Performances and concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast area include Jerry Jeff Walker in Galveston and “Satchmo at the Waldorf” in Houston.

The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston will present Jerry Jeff Walker in concert on Friday at 8 p.m. The concert was rescheduled from December.

 “Walker has been called ‘Mister Bojangles,’ ‘The Gypsy Songman,’ and ‘The Jimmy Buffett of Texas,’” said a news release. News Release

The Grand 1894 Opera House will also present The Julian Bliss Septet with “A Tribute to Benny Goodman” on Saturday at 8 p.m. News Release

The Alley Theatre in Houston is presenting “Satchmo at the Waldorf” this week, with performances Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 and 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. The show runs through March 18.

The Alley Theatre also continues with “Lover, Beloved: An Evening with Carson McCullers” this week. Performances are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. the show runs through March 11.

Theatre Under the Stars wraps up “Memphis” this week, with performances Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Clear Creek Community Theatre in Nassau Bay continues its production of Neil Simon's “Laughter on the 23rd Floor”, with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through March 11.

Beaumont Community Players continues with “The Marvelous Wonderettes” on Friday 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Betty Greenberg Center.

The production runs through March 10.

Main Street Theater in Houston continues with its production of “Men on Boats” this week.

Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. And on Sunday at 3 p.m. The show runs through March 11.

Upcoming performances include “The Foreigner”, opening March 16 at Bay Area Harbour Playhouse in Dickinson, and “Diavolo”, kicking off the performance season at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston on March 16.
