Third annual M3 (Mobilizing Medical Missions) Conference 2018 recently hosted by Houston’s Lakewood Church
by Lynda Guidry
Monday, February 26, 2018

M3 (Mobilizing Medical Missions) Conference 2018 Houston’s Lakewood Church recently hosted its M3 (Mobilizing Medical Missions) Conference for the third year, welcoming participants from near and far for two days of intensive networking and information sharing among organizations and individuals endeavoring to relieve suffering around the world for populations ravaged by war, disease and poverty as well as natural disasters and crime.

Dr. Paul Osteen and his wife Jennifer, both medical professionals, organized the first conference in 2016 after participating for years in medical missions around the world and realizing that Houston, with its medical and educational centers, is the ideal setting for such a gathering.

Each year a portion of the proceeds from the conference is awarded to an organization that has shown exceptional leadership and stewardship in caring for the most vulnerable and in need.

The 2018 M3 Project of the Year is the Tenwek Cardiothoracic Center located in sub-Saharan Africa.

Dr. Russ E. White, Chief of Surgery and Director of Medical Education, Tenwek Hospital in Kenya was on hand to thank M3 for its generosity.

M3 (Mobilizing Medical Missions) Conference 2018 The Samaritan’s Purse-International Relief organization was a prominent exhibitor at the conference. One of its emergency mobile field hospitals was on display for tours in the church’s front driveway.

The conference included breakout sessions led by experienced missions personnel and featured speakers from a variety of relief organizations in the main auditorium on Friday and Saturday.  A brief, yet moving tribute to revered evangelist Billy Graham was offered as well as a vibrant gathering of individuals on stage dressed in the traditional garb of the many counties represented at the conference.

The 2019 Mobilizing Medical Missions Conference is set for February 22-23 at Lakewood Church in Houston.
