Brazoria County
Pearland City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, February 27, 2018

Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve, on final reading, an ordinance amending the thoroughfare plan portion of the city's comprehensive plan.

The thoroughfare plan identifies and classifies mobility routes within the city to support the city's development and connectivity goals. The plan assists in identifying and prioritizing projects for the five-year capital improvement program.

Council Member J. David Little was not present at the time of the vote.

The amendment provide minor updates to the plan, removing outdated information, re-aligning built-out corridors and adding missing or needed updates.

The city council voted unanimously to approve items on the council's consent agenda. Council Member Keith Ordeneaux was not present at the time of the vote. Items on the consent agenda were approval of the minutes of previous meetings, an interlocal cooperative pricing arrangement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council for the purchase of in-car video camera systems, and an amended contract with Brown and Gay Engineers for engineering services with the Hughes Ranch Road Project.

The city council voted 5-1, with Woody Owens opposed and Trent Perez not present during the vote, to approve a change order with Hurtado Construction Company associated with the Hooper Road Project.

The change order increases the contract by $156,590 for the project, which entails the reconstruction of 3,200 feet of the northern part of Hooper Road from Beltway 8 to just south of MHI Compresser International's facility.

The city council took no action resulting from executive session discussions regarding pending and potential litigation.

All members were present during the meeting. Agenda
