Bayou Vista City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to order the cancellation of the May 5 General Election for mayor and two council positions as well as a special election for an additional council position.

The city council voted unanimously to declare incumbents Mayor Daniel Konyha, Position 1 Alderman Robert Althaus, Position 5 Alderman James L. Cook as well as Position 2 Alderman Tami Inman, who is filling an unexpired term, as unopposed and elected for new terms in May.

The city will still hold an election in May for voters to decide on Proposition 1, which is re-authorization of a one-quarter of one percent sales tax for street maintenance.

The city council took no action resulting from executive session discussions regarding the evaluation of Officer Ruben Shawn Carrizal and other personnel matters.

The city council voted unanimously to review and approve an inter-jurisdictional mutual aid agreement for Galveston County.

The city council tabled action regarding award of a contract for resurfacing the”Big City Parking Lot” at Neptune and Warsaw, and the small parking lot at Neptune and Bonita.

The city council tabled action regarding award of a contract for refurbishing the city's playground equipment and pavilion at Neptune and Bonita.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
