Lemonade Day Galveston County Kick-off is Coming to La Marque City Hall
News Release
Friday, March 02, 2018

Galveston, Texas – Lemonade Day Galveston County is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches kids how to start, own and operate their very own business – a lemonade stand. Lemonade Day has spread to over 57 cities in 23 states and 3 countries. We are proud to announce that La Marques’ Mayor and Council will be hosting this special event.

“Myself and City Council are proud supporters of Lemonade Day Galveston County. Last year I passed by a group of young people celebrating the day at the end of their driveway on Cedar Drive. I quickly turned around and went back to support them! They were so excited that the Mayor stopped by, but I was the one who was blessed, said Mayor Bobby Hocking.”

A kickoff celebration is planned for Wednesday, March 7th from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at La Marque City Hall, 1111 Bayou Road. By exposing our youth to the various principals that are incorporated into the lemonade day curriculum; we hope to cultivate and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said, La Marque Councilman and 2018 Lemonade Day City Champion, Chris Lane.

“We are extremely excited and grateful to work with Mayor Hocking and his outstanding Council members. They are 100% committed to education and the children in La Marque. I have no doubt that their passion, commitment, determination and love for this program will help grow many future leaders and entrepreneurs,” said Gina Spagnola, Lemonade Day County Director and President and CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Each child that registers receives a FREE backpack, t-shirt and Entrepreneur Workbook that teaches them the valuable lessons of Lemonade Day - including how to set a goal, make a plan, work the plan and achieve their dreams. Once a youth pays their investor back, they keep all of the money they earn and are encouraged to spend some, save some, and share some of their profit. The life skills they will learn is priceless.

Anyone from kindergarten to 12th grade can be involved in Lemonade Day! Young entrepreneurs with lemonade stands need mentors, investors, business partners, great locations, and customers! Sponsors and volunteers are also needed to make Lemonade Day a success.
