News Release
Friday, March 02, 2018

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an assault of a woman at 303 Memorial City Way about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 25).

The suspect, Maurice Mosley (b/m, 27), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 183rd State District Court.  A photo of Mosley, courtesy of the Harris County Sheriff's Office, is attached to this news release.

The victim, 31, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Officer K. Persad reported:

After the victim walked into a restroom at the Memorial City Mall, she was confronted by an unknown male suspect who approached her from behind and placed a trash bag around her neck.  The suspect then began strangling the victim until she lost consciousness.  He then kicked her repeatedly before fleeing and boarding a METRO bus southbound on Gessner Street.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where doctors stated she is expected to survive her injuries.

The suspect was described only as a black male, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 160 to 180 pounds.

Further investigation led to the identity of Mosley as the suspect in this case and he was arrested on Wednesday (Feb. 28) without incident.
