Performances and concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast area include “Hair” and “On Golden Pond”, both in Galveston.

Island ETC, East-End Theatre Company in Galveston will kick off its production of “Hair” on Friday at 8 p.m.

“Also known as the ‘American Tribal Love-Rock Musical,’ HAIR tells the story of ‘The Tribe,’ a group of politically active friends who are part of the immerging hippie generation and the issues that surround them - sex, drugs, and the Vietnam War,” said a news release. News Release

An additional performance is on Saturday at 8 p.m. The show runs through April 7.

The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston will present the Montana Repertory Theatre for a performance of “On Golden Pond” on Saturday at 8 p.m.

“Both lighthearted and deeply moving, playwright Ernest Thompson’s On Golden Pond is the story of a retired professor and his wife whose annual trip to the solitude of their summer vacation home is interrupted when their adult daughter Chelsea arrives with her fiancé and his teenaged son, Billy,” said a news release. The Grand 1894 Opera House will also present the Galveston Symphony Orchestra in concert on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Alley Theatre in Houston continues with “Satchmo at the Waldorf” this week, with performances Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 and 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. The show runs through March 18.

The Alley Theatre ends its performances of “Lover, Beloved: An Evening with Carson McCullers” this week. Shows are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Clear Creek Community Theatre in Nassau Bay wraps up its production of Neil Simon's “Laughter on the 23rd Floor”, with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Beaumont Community Players ends “The Marvelous Wonderettes” with performances on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Betty Greenberg Center.

Main Street Theater in Houston wraps up with “Men on Boats” this week.

Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. And on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Upcoming performances include “Cleo”, opening April 6 at the Alley Theatre, and “Bright Star”, presented by Theatre Under the Stars in Houston and opening March 13.
