Former World Bank President Zoellick to discuss North American trade policy at Rice’s Baker Institute March 15

HOUSTON – Former World Bank President Robert Zoellick will discuss North American trade policy in a global and historical context at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy March 15. He will examine both the economic potential and challenges of the U.S.-Mexico relationship.
Hosted by the Baker Institute’s
Mexico Center as part of its McLarty Lecture Series, the event is free and open to the public but registration is required. This event is also part of a 25th anniversary commemorative series featuring the centers and research of the Baker Institute.

Who: Robert Zoellick, former president of the World Bank (2007-12), former U.S. deputy secretary of state (2005-06) and former U.S. trade representative (2001-05). Thomas F. McLarty III, for whom the lecture series is named, will introduce Zoellick and moderate the conversation.

What: An event titled “McLarty Lecture Series: A Conversation With The Honorable Robert Zoellick.”


When: Thursday, March 15, 6:30-8 p.m.


Where: Rice University, Baker Hall, Doré Commons, 6100 Main St.


The Mexico Center’s McLarty Lecture Series features scholars and leaders with insight into the challenging policy issues affecting U.S.-Mexico relations, such as trade, energy, infrastructure, immigration, security and public safety, and the rule of law. The series is named for McLarty to honor his distinguished record of business leadership and public service.
