Missouri City City Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve an ordinance, on final reading, creating Reinvestment Zone No. 17 to provide tax abatement to a fresh food services company planning to locate into a 62,000 square foot building in Park Eight Ninety commercial subdivision.

The company proposes to invest $6 million into the existing facility, and create 115 new jobs.

The city council voted to attest to the tax abatement agreement pertaining to the creation of the reinvestment zone.

The city council voted to approve, on first reading, an ordinance to amend Planned Development District No. 101, pertaining to the development of a single family residential subdivision to be located north of Newpoint Estates and south and west of the Creekmont residential subdivision.

The approval included amendments such as reducing the maximum number of lots from 280 to 274, provide minimum 60 foot width lots around the perimeter of the subdivision where adjacent to both the Creekmont and the Newpoint Estates residential subdivisions, provide a minimum 20 foot wide buffer along the boundary of the proposed subdivision and remove street connections to Creekmont and Newpoint Estates.

The item was approved following lengthy discussion concerning the proposed development.

The city council voted to approve, on first reading, an ordinance creating Reinvestment Zone No. 19 at a 6.06 acre tract of land within the Park Eight Ninety commercial subdivision.

Council Member Jerry Wyatt was not present at the time of the vote.
