Clear Lake Shores City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve a separation agreement with City Administrator George Jones.

Under the agreement, the city will be released from any and all claims under the city administrator employment agreement, and a total lump sum payment equivalent of six months' salary plus car allowance plus the total cost of health insurance for six months in the amount of $61,034 to be paid from the General Fund.

“This was a difficult decision for the city council,” said Michael McNamara, Mayor of Clear Lake Shores. “George has been an asset to our city, and his public service to our employees and citizens is greatly appreciated.” News Release

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the Galveston County Mosquito Control District to conduct aerial spraying over the city.

The city council postponed action regarding a proposal from Ron Cox Consulting to conduct a search for a new city administrator.

The city council discussed, but took no action regarding communications tactics for the city and city council.

The city council took no action regarding a request to return $100,000 of the city's funds from the Economic Development Corporation originally dedicated to the Okie's Project, and to establish a new project using the same fund.
