Thursday, March 08, 2018

Kemah City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously to certify candidates in the May 5 General Election as unopposed and to adopt a resolution canceling the election.

Incumbents Teresa Vazquez-Evans, Kyle Burks, and Matthew Wiggins, who serve in Positions 1, 3 and 5, respectively, have term expiring in May, but filed and received no challengers for their re-election.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Burks as council representative and Shawna Reid, Steve McGough, and Jacob Bigger as members of the Kemah Community Development Corporation.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the city to sell a 1.02 tract of land and part of a closed street in the Roberts Addition. The item was approved with modifications.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote, with exception of the motion to adjourn, which was opposed by Wiggins. Council members Wanda Zimmer and Robin Collins were absent. Agenda
