La Marque City Council on Monday voted unanimously to ratify the city manager's expenditure of $102,395 to Texas Price Utilities for costs involved in emergency sanitary sewer line repairs.

The expenditures was for urgent repair of collapsed sanitary sewer line.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Diane Winston to the Building Standards Commission and appoint C.J. Leggett as alternate to the Parks Board.

The city council voted unanimously to direct the city manager to enter into a settlement agreement with Chemetco Site in the amount of $5,000.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Council Member Robert Michetich absent. Agenda

During the meeting, Mayor Bobby Hocking presented proclamations for Safe Digging Month, Child Abuse and Awareness Month, National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, and Fair Housing Month.

During council comments, Hocking spoke on the upcoming May 5 election, during which he faces a challenger. The next city council meeting takes place after the election.

“I certainly am proud of what we've accomplished as a council in the last 7 years,” Hocking said, noting that the city has gone from a deficit to a balanced budget and surplus. Listen (1:42)

He also commended council.

“I pray that I will be back here on May 14,” he said.
