The Galveston College Board of Regents on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Galveston Independent School District for the Youth Career Connect Grant for 2017-2018 to revise the agreement for a funding addendum.

The agreement implements a fifth addendum to the amount of grant funding at $300,000, an increase from $200,000.

The board voted unanimously to award a contract to Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC for annual external auditing services.

The firm will provide auditing services for a fee of $51,000.

The board voted 5-0-1, with Fred Raschke abstaining, to extend the college's bank depository contract with Moody National Bak.

The board voted unanimously to approve offering a Level 1 Certificate in Logistics at the college.

During the meeting the board heard a report regarding student athlete performance at the college. Students on the college's softball and baseball teams have an average grade point average of 3.08, above the student body average of 2.93.

In 2017, 16 baseball players went on to play at 4-year universities, and two players signed with major league teams, while five softball players went on to play at 4-year universities.
