Friendswood EMS rated top level in Texas
News Release
Monday, April 16, 2018

Friendswood’s Volunteer EMS has been recognized as achieving the Gold Level of Readiness for the Texas EMS for Children State Partnership Voluntary EMS Pediatric Readiness program.

Friendswood is one of only two programs in Texas to receive the highest qualification this year, according to Friendswood EMS Chief Lisa Camp, BA LP, CPM.

“We have always tried to serve residents of all ages with the highest level of excellence. This award means that the goal of providing Friendswood’s children with the best emergency medical care possible is being reached. That is not only demonstrated in how we respond to an emergency call, but also through ongoing efforts to educate children, their parents, and be involved in the community,” Camp said.

“We at the EMS for Children State Partnership are very excited an impressed that you and your agency are taking the initiative to demonstrate your interest in improving the care of children in your community and reducing mortality of infants, children and adolescents,” said Dr. Saranya Srinivasan, Director of the EMS for Children State Partnership, in a letter announcing the award.

The Friendswood EMS was founded in 1972 and has grown to 45 members; a mix of volunteers and paid staff.

“Two of the greatest assets we have in Friendswood are our volunteers and a desire to achieve excellence,” said Friendswood Mayor Kevin Holland. “This Gold Level recognition of our EMS team shows that they have successfully combined both of those assets as they care for the youngest residents of Friendswood. I am proud of their accomplishments.”

Holland wants to remind everyone that National EMS Week 2018 is May 20-26, and May 23 is Emergency Medical Services for Children Day. “We are grateful every week of the year for our EMS staff. I hope that Friendswood residents will make a special effort in May to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services,” Holland said.
