Fort Bend County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to adopt a resolution declaring an intention to advance funding and reimburse Hurricane Harvey recovery-related expenditures for a total maximum amount of $150 million.

The resolution provides the commissioners court opportunity to borrow funds if needed, but does not require the bond issuance. Listen (1:15)

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt local option exemptions for property taxes for the 2018 Tax Year.

The exemptions include a homestead exemption of $5,000, or 20 percent, whichever is greater; and $100,000 for those over 65 years of age or disabled.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to transfer the amount of $600,000 form Non-Departmental Contingency into Non-Departmental Fees to allocate funds for shortage in Tax Increment Zone rebate payments for Tax Year 2017.

The commissioners court took no action regarding a request to assign one truck, a Ford F-150, as an addition to the fleet for the office of Constable Precinct 3.

The commissioners court took no action regarding a request to transfer $32,000 from contingency to allocate funds for the addition of the truck for the Constable Precinct 3 office.

Both items were pulled from the agenda after discussion.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an agreement between Fort Bend County, First Transit and American Multi-Cinema for parking lot leases in the amount of $30,000 through June 30, 2019.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to support preparing a letter to send to the Arnold Foundation relating to a risk assessment tool to use in the jail magistration process, as discussed in closed session. Listen (2:31)

The commissioners court took no action resulting from executive session discussions regarding potential claims resulting from Hurricane Harvey flooding.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to negotiate a right-of-entry with the landowner of the parcel as discussed regarding the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Allied Equity Partners, LP, et al concerning Mobility Bond Project No. 13201, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to also authorize the county attorney to negotiate and enter into a full and complete settlement for the acquisition of the property in the concerning the suit with Allied Equity Partners, as discussed in closed session.

During the meeting, County Judge Robert Hebert issued a proclamation declaring May as Older Americans Month in Fort Bend County. Hebert presented the proclamation to Adult Protective Services and Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels – and Much, Much More! Listen (1:46)
