New Friendswood City Manager sworn in
News Release
Thursday, May 10, 2018

Morad Kabiri has taken his place at the City Manager position of the Friendswood Council Chamber dais following an oath of office ceremony during the May 7 City Council meeting. He succeeds Roger Roecker, who retired in mid-April after 29 years with the City.

Roecker had the honor of administering the oath to Kabiri, who has worked for the City of Friendswood since 2007. In 2012, Kabiri became Friendswood’s first Assistant City Manager, responsible for the Community Development, Parks & Recreation, and Public Works departments.

Kabiri’s family and many of his friends were in the audience for the ceremony, which concluded with a standing ovation from the audience and councilmembers.

Kabiri has degrees from the University of Houston and Texas Southern University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the field of civil engineering, and a Certified Planner by the American Institute of Certified Planners.
