Pearland City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to amend the speed limits for vehicles along Bailey Road from FM 1128 to Veterans Drive and Broadway Street from FM 521 to State Highway 288.

The changes increase the speed limit along Bailey Road from 35 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour; maintain a 45 mile per hour speed limit along Broadway from FM 521 to Windward Bay Drive, and reduce the speed limit from 45 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour from Windward Bay Drive to State Highway 288.

The city council voted to approve an interlocal agreement with Brazoria County for paving services for the period of October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018.

Brazoria County will provide asphalt street paving services for the current fiscal year. A list of approximately 4 miles of asphalt roads was submitted to the county in January.

The city council voted to confirm a contract term for the city's fire department dispatch services agreement with Cypress Creek EMS as a 3-year term ending December 15, 2019.

Under the agreement, Cypress Creek EMS offered a fee structure of $21 per call, and $9 per call for automatic alarms that are unfounded. They also charge a base station fee of $2,000, and an annual per station fee of $500, as well as a technology fee of $3,000 per year.

The total estimated impact for FY2019 is $234,000, and $240,000 in FY2020.

The city council voted to amend an advanced funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for the Hughes Ranch Road Improvement Project.

The project boundaries are from Cullen Parkway to Smith Ranch Road. The amendment adjusts the total costs of the project from $32,895,880 to $33,195,880, an increase of $300,000. The federal share will increase by $240,000 to $26,307,200, while the city's share will increase by $60,000, to a total of $6,636,800.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with council members Keith Ordeneaux and Derrick Reed absent. Agenda
