Port of Orange Board of Commissioners

The Port of Orange Board of Commissioners on Monday voted unanimously to renew the port's medical insurance policy with the Texas Municipal League MultiState Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool for October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019.

The renewal included a 1 percent increase for medical and 10 percent increase for dental benefits.

The board voted unanimously to authorize advertisement for bids for scrap/surplus railroad iron and miscellaneous metal.

The board voted unanimously to schedule a workshop for the August regular meeting, August 13, to discuss the FY2019 Budget.

The board tabled action regarding relocation of the Orange County Navigation & Port District Dock Facilities to the Neches River.

The board took no action regarding elimination of port taxes for seniors and the disabled.

The board took no action regarding changing the time of the regular board meetings. The item died for lack of a second.

The board took no action regarding limiting board members to two terms of four years each. The item died for lack of a second.

The board voted 3-1, with Carol Holt opposed, to award a $564,023 contract to Allco for repairs and renovation of Pier Road Pier 10.

The board voted 3-1, with Holt opposed, to approve an amount not to exceed $78,02 for engineering oversight of the Pier 10 renovations.

The board voted unanimously to approve a month-to-month lease of warehouse space at Pier Road for SpawGlass as discussed in closed session.

No other action was taken from executive session.

All other action items were approved by unanimous vote. Commissioner John Young was absent. Agenda
