Phase 1 of Bringing Electronic Plan Review to Galveston Begins This Week

Accela access will be down from 5:00pm Thursday, June 14th to 8:00am Monday June 18th

GALVESTON, Texas – In February the City announced that we would be bringing electronic plan review to reality for those doing business with the City of Galveston this summer. Phase 1 of the necessary upgrades to bring this feature to Galveston will begin Thursday June 14th at 5:00 p.m. The upgrades are estimated to be completed by Monday, June 18th at 8:00 a.m.

While these upgrades to Accela take place, numerous City services will be unavailable online and are outlined below:

  • Permits
    • Applicants will not be able to apply for permits online, review the status of permits applied for, or log in to their Accela account.
    • The City will not be able to issue any permits during this time.
  • Code Enforcement
    • Complainants will not be able to log in to file complaints or to see the status of previously filed complaints.
    • Residents will not be able to search existing cases.

During the software’s down time, those who have questions or wish to submit applications for permits in person or over email can use the following methods to contact Development Services:

  • Permits

o   Applications for permits can be submitted in person by visiting the Planning Department on the 4th floor of City Hall located at 823 Rosenberg or by emailing the application to Applications accepted during this period will be submitted on Monday June 18th as soon as the software is brought back online.

o   Applicants can also call 409-797-3660 or email the Building Division at with any questions.

  • Code Enforcement

o   Residents with questions or complaints can call 409-797-3660 or email the Planning Counter at
