Jefferson County
Port Arthur City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Thursday, July 05, 2018

Port Arthur City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve an ordinance setting rates for the cost of service to be charged by Texas Gas Service Company, a division of One Gas, Inc. for gas service customers in the city.

The gas company requested an annual revenue decrease of $817,178, resulting in a $1.26 rate decrease per month for residential customers using an average of 20 Ccf per month, and a one-time refund of $10.62 per customer. The reductions reflect the impact of new federal corporate tax rate reductions.

The city council voted unanimously to amend the city's Code of Ordinances regarding reporting for duty in inclement weather.

The city council voted unanimously to remove from the agenda a resolution authorizing an interlocal agreement with the Port of Port Arthur for street projects that will enhance connectivity to the port.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a settlement agreement with the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool for property damage to the Cecil Reynolds Park Storage Building.

The cost to repair the building is estimated to total approximately $67,000.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Harold Doucet was absent. Agenda
