Brazoria County
Pearland City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, July 10, 2018

Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to elect Trent Perez as mayor pro tem.

The city council voted 2-5, with only Tony Carbone and Perez voting in favor of approval, to deny a motion to rezone approximately 0.6653 acres of property at 3224 Patricia Lane from a Single-Family Residential District to an Office and Professional District.

The city council voted 5-2, with Derrick Reed and Gary Moore opposed, to rename portions of County Road 59, South Fork Drive, Magnolia Road and John Lizer Road to Magnolia Parkway.

The change is to provide a common road name in order to reduce emergency response time, clarify locations for emergency response and reduce general confusion.

The city council voted 6-1, with Carbone opposed, to authorize participation in an interlocal cooperative pricing arrangement with the General Service Administration for the purchase of equipment for the Advanced Meter Infrastructure Project.

The city council voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement with Brazoria County and the Brazoria County Toll Road Authority regarding the construction of a frontage road along the east side of State Highway 288 between FM 518 and County Road 59.

The city council voted unanimously to enter into a tax abatement agreement with Pearland Economic Development Corporation Prospect NO. 1803, and authorizing a Loan Assistance Agreement between the PEDC and the business prospect, as discussed in closed session.

The city council voted unanimously to promote two alternate members of the Zoning Board of Adjustments to full members, as discussed in closed session.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
