Santa Fe High School alumni hosting Santa Fe Strong Benefit this Sunday
News Release
Thursday, July 12, 2018

Just as the alumni of Santa Fe High School's class of 2008 were starting to plan their 10-year reunion, the unthinkable happened. Now, instead of a traditional high school reunion, they are instead planning a benefit to pay tribute to the victims of the recent school shooting and to raise money for the victims' families.

The Santa Fe Strong Benefit will be held on Sunday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Galveston County Fairgrounds. Admission is free.

It is a family-friendly event, with activities that include bounce houses, carnival games, face painting and petting zoos. BBQ plates will be sold for $10 each, and there will be Santa Fe Strong merchandise for sale. In addition, there will also be a 71-mile bike run and several raffles, as well as a silent auction and a live auction. All of the proceeds will go to the families of the victims of the shooting.

The event will also feature a full line-up of live music, including performances by:

  • Jake Worthington
  • Cody Canada & the Departed
  • Seth Candan
  • Austin Mayse
  • Seth James
  • Nicholas Scott Band
  • Clear Lake School of Rock

The organizers are hoping for a large turnout at the event, not just to raise money for the victims' families but also to show them the community's support.

For more information on the Santa Fe Strong Benefit or to sponsor or donate to the event, email or visit the event's Facebook page.
