Aggravated Robbery Suspect Arrested
News Release
Thursday, August 02, 2018

On July 30, 2018, at H.E.B., 2955 Gulf Freeway South, League City Texas, a suspected shoplifter left the store with several briskets in a cart without paying for the meat. When an H.E.B. employee approached the suspect in the parking lot, he pointed a knife at the employee. The suspect then loaded the meat in a white pickup truck and left the parking lot.

On July 31, 2018, at 7:30 a.m. at Lowes, 1655 West F.M. 646, League City Texas, a suspect matching the description of the H.E.B. robbery suspect exited Lowes with a shopping cart containing items that he had not purchased. A Lowes employee attempted to take pictures of Phillips as he entered a white pickup truck and drove away. As the vehicle left the scene, the Lowes employee had to jump out of the way to keep from being hit by the truck. The truck description matched that of the H.E.B. robbery suspect vehicle, and the Lowes employee was able to provide a license plate for the truck.

On July 31, 2018, at 3:25 p.m., Officer Andrea Schuett conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in a robbery earlier in the day. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 33-year-old Reginald John Phillips Jr. of Dickinson Texas. During the stop, officers found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Phillips was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Driving While License Invalid and is facing two counts of Aggravated Robbery. Property believed to be stolen during the Lowes robbery earlier in the day was recovered from the vehicle. A passenger in Phillips's vehicle was released at the scene without charges.
