Fort Bend County
Missouri City City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, August 07, 2018

Missouri City City Council on Monday voted unanimously to adopt an ordinance ordering an election for November 6 to elect the mayor and two at-large city council members.

Mayor Allen Owen and council members Jerry Wyatt and Chris Preston have terms expiring this year.

August 20 is the deadline to order an election for the November 6 ballot.

The city council voted to grant, on first reading, a specific use permit to allow for the location of a telecommunications tower and associated equipment within the Thunderbird North subdivision within a neighborhood park located north of the intersection of Turtle Creek Drive and Southern Hills Drive.

T-Mobile is working with Skyway Towers for the proposed tower, which would be built to be disguised as a tree.

The city council voted to approve, on first reading, an ordinance to rezone approximately 24.45 acres of land from a retail district to a Planned Development District for a mixed use commercial and residential development.

The site is located east of Quail Valley Thunderbird and a Public Storage, and west of Colony Lakes residential subdivision.

The city council voted to accept a gift deed from Taylor Morrison of Texas, Inc. for 10 acres of parkland.

The city council voted to approve an interlocal agreement with the Quail Valley Utility District for providing wastewater capacity and treatment services for the Parks Edge Development.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with council members Jeffrey Boney and Floyd Emery absent. Agenda
