Fort Bend County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to propose a 2018 tax rate of $0.445 per $100 valuation.

Of the total tax rate, $0.357 per $100 valuation will be utilized for the county's General Fund expenditures, and $0.063 per $100 valuation of the rate will be used to make payments on the county's bonded indebtedness. The remaining $0.025 per $100 valuation will be dedicated to the Road and Bridge Fund.

The proposed property tax rate for the Fort Bend County Drainage District Maintenance Fund will be $0.019 per $100 valuation.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to schedule public hearings for August 29 and September 4 to receive public input regarding the proposed tax rate.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to schedule public hearings for September 10 and September 11 to receive public input regarding the county's proposed FY2019 Budget.

The commissioners court held a public hearing regarding creation of Fort Bend County Reinvestment Zone No. 21 for tax abatement purposes. No members of the public requested to address the court regarding the item. Action on the matter was taken on a subsequent item.

The commissioners court took no action regarding approval of a permit agreement between the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority and Century Land Holdings of Texas, LLC for use of the toll road right-of-way.

The commissioners court took no action regarding acceptance of a tract of land conveyed by Quitclaim Deed from Century Land Holdings of Texas, LLC regarding access to Polo Ranch Residential Community.

The commissioners court took no action regarding acceptance of a dedication deed for a tract of land containing 0.7362 acres from Century Land Holdings for access from FM 1093 to Polo Ranch.

The three items were pulled from the agenda.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt an order to create Fort Bend County Reinvestment Zone No. 21.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve the collection of optional county fees for vehicle registration.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to deny a request by John Gummelt to waive penalty and interest totaling $454.77 on property taxes for tax year 2017.

The commissioners court took no action resulting from closed session discussions regarding an investigation into Fort Bend County Courts.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept a proposal to settle a subrogation claim for Paul Shedd, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county to incur litigation expenses in the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Murray D. Straznicky, et al regarding parcel 33 for the Old Needville/Fairchilds Road Mobility Project, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to incur litigation expenses in the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Joel Addison Jenkins, et al, Parcel 36 for the Old Needville/Fairchilds Road Mobility Road Project, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to incur litigation expenses in the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Quest IRA, Inc., F/B/O William M. Cayan, et al, regarding Parcel 37 for the Old Needville/Fairchilds Road Mobility Bond Project, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to incur legal expenses in the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Steven Dale Cook, et al, regarding the Old Needville/Fairchilds Road Mobility Bond Project, in the amount not to exceed $10,000, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to incur litigation expenses in the matter of Jannie Hillsman (Deceased) and Willie Hillsman, Jr., Life Estate, et al, regarding Parcel 1 for the Daily Park Project, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to incur litigation expenses in the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Zella Salter, et al, regarding Parcel 2 for the Daily Park Project, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to settle the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Westheimer Holdings, LLC, et al, regarding Parcel 102 for the Westpark Tollway Phase 1 project, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the county attorney to incur litigation expenses in the matter of Fort Bend County vs. Davoody M and J, LLC, et al regarding the Spring Green Boulevard Mobility Bond Project, in an amount not to exceed $2,000, as discussed in closed session.

The commissioners court took no formal action, but reflected in the record that the court reviewed the evaluations of the director of human resources and the county library in closed session.

All other action items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
