Galveston City Council today voted unanimously to propose a property tax rate of $0.561 per $100 of taxable value for 2018 and call a public hearing for August 23, 2018.

The city council voted unanimously to call a public hearing on September 13, 2018 on the FY 2019 proposed budget as required by state law.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a negotiated resolution between the city and Texas Gas Service regarding the company’s April 27, 2018 cost of service adjustment filing.

All other agenda items were approved unanimously with all members present. Regular Meeting Agenda

The city council held a workshop following the meeting in which it continued discussions on the FY 2019 Budget and Capital Improvement Plan.

Certain aspects discussed were the allocation of property taxes, how the budget can be reviewed, and major expenditures.
