League City City Council on Tuesday voted 6-1, with Dan Becker opposed, to propose a property tax of $0.5638 per $100 valuation for the 2018 Tax Year.

The rate exceeds neither the effective rate of $0.572255 per $100 valuation nor the rollback rate of $0.599476 per $100 valuation. The rate also reflects a decrease from the 2017 tax rate of $0.565 per $100 valuation.

The city council may adopt a lower tax rate than the proposed rate, but may not exceed it. Public hearings are not required for the tax rate as it does not exceed the effective rate.

The city council voted 6-1, with Becker opposed, to adopt a resolution ratifying the property tax increase for the FY2019 Budget.

The budget will raise $1.54 million, or 3.6 percent more total property tax revenues than the previous budget. Of that amount, $1.24 million is tax revenue from new property added to the tax roll.

The city council voted unanimously to defer action regarding a request for a Planned Unit Development generally located on the west side of Lakeside Drive, north of Marina Bay Drive, and east of South Short Bouelvard.

The city council discussed the item at length, following a public hearing regarding the request, addressing concerns with drainage and ownership of drainage utilities for the development proposed in the PUD.

The city council took no action resulting from closed session discussions regarding a financial or other incentive to a business prospect that seeks to locate, stay or expand within the city.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Todd Kinsey was absent. Agenda
