Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department wins $18,000 grant
News Release
Friday, September 14, 2018

A grant recently awarded by Firehouse Subs to the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD) will fund replacement gear for some of their firefighters. The $18,000 award will be used to purchase eight sets of the special pants and coats that firefighters wear when responding to a call. “PPE” or personal protective equipment is the technical name.

“It’s critically important to make sure the volunteer firefighters who arrive on a scene already have the right equipment and protective gear. This grant will fund PPE gear which has to be replaced about every eight years,” said Marc Faber, FVFD Battalion Chief. “We’re grateful to Firehouse Subs for their generosity.”

The new gear is scheduled to arrive in October.
