Missouri City’s Future Matters
Mayor Allen Owen, Missouri City
Monday, October 29, 2018

It is my privilege to have worked and to work with people from every part of Missouri City, whose origins may be from every part of this planet but whose priority like mine is to make this city the premier destination for young growing families, aging seniors and aspiring businesses.

Missouri City’s future matters because this is where I raised my family with my wife Jane of more than 50 years. This is where our daughter Melissa remains involved professionally and personally every day in the public school system that today is the most diverse ethnically and racially excellence school district driven in Texas. Missouri City matters because it is where I built businesses for 50 years and where today businesses are built because opportunity is here for all without regard to ethnicity. It is where businesses are being built committed to our city’s high standards and lifting the burden up from the local home owner by bringing in to the city increased sales and business property tax revenue.

Through my decades devoted to working with Democrats and Republicans at the county, state and federal levels and with business builders from everywhere in the country and the world, we have brought 1,500 new jobs to Missouri City, $500 million in new commercial development as well as improvements to Texas Parkway including the new Houston Community College that is bringing young people and professionals with their energy and entrepreneurship, an expanded and future focused high-technology library as well as widened sidewalks and landscaped real beautification and commercial development with new eateries and shopping opportunities.

I have worked with our congress, legislative and local representatives to make this a city that has attracted nearly 50 new major Fortune 500 companies in recent years while also adding to our parks and hike and bike trails for family recreation and preserving tranquility smaller city charm that brought many of us here with our young families in the past.

Missouri City matters to many and more and more different folks each day. Together we can and do work to make Missouri City Texas’ award winning family destination worth fighting for.
